There is simply no denying it; comfort is king in this day and age. With the expanding market of corner sofas and super sized beds, we see the trend clearly growing. While some trends are dictated by the masterminds behind the furniture industry, this is one that is firmly and consciously driven by consumers. It is a time in which the people know what they want, not one where they want to be told what to want.

The economic state has led people to turn their attentions to their homes. That can mean structural repairs, increase of space, and/or improved décor. Home is where the focus falls. It is not a new phenomenon by any means, it is sometimes referred to as rest and nest. Those funds formerly spent on out of house entertainment becomes limited. Any additional expenditures are instead enlisted to make one’s dwelling a place the owners enjoy spending their much deserved personal time. As more meals are being prepared and eaten at home, more movies, sporting events and television is being watched there too, the environment becomes all the more important.

Those that previously would make regular transitions on weeknights or weekends from the seats of luxury cars, into those of restaurants and theaters no longer do so. They are now migrating from cosy couches, to comfortable beds for a big night in. Thus just how snuggly, and comfy those pieces of furniture are becomes critical. Yes, indeed it is a sign of the times. The best part is that these upgrades are often long term investments, and will be appreciated long after this economic downturn. This we suspect is likely to be a trend that turns into the norm.
